“People come into this world naked and I consider naked bodies to be people's original, authentic look.“ Ren Hang

Taschen Books have published  the new REN HANG BOOK – “Ren Hang”

The 312 page hardcover publication will be his first international collection covering the artist’s entire career. Even though his career has thus far only spanned 5 years this young Chinese artist’s work has been shown in more than 20 single and 70 group exhibitions worldwide. Photographing his friends in the nude Hang’s pictures are known for their radical imagery and been subject to regular censorship.

Famously quoting “My pictures’ politics have nothing to do with China. It’s Chinese politics that wants to interfere with my art,” he says. “China doesn’t allow outdoor nudity, so he is very careful when photographing outside to avoid being arrested. Like his fellow artist and role-model Ai WeiWei, Hang has been threatened with jail time.

Ren Hang was born in Changchun, Jilin Province, China, in 1987, and currently lives in Beijing.
